When you are anxious you can develop a pattern of breathing shallow & fast for most of the day. This gives your brain & body the signal that there's a problem,, your body is aroused ready for fight & flight.
A lot of my clients have got into such a habit of mouth breathing, they don't realise they are doing it. By breathing like this the whole time your body will be in a constant state of arousal.
